Julie Mackey

Hi, I am a mobility and mindset coach with over two decades of coaching experience.

I work for the athlete to help them realize their highest potential, shut down limited beliefs, and breakthrough specific goals in their sport to unlock their next level of performance through targeted mindset strategy, muscle work (myofascial release stretch therapy and recovery practices) to create optimal range of motion, movement fluency, and might (breath) practices — a.k.a. my Tri-Flex approach!

I completed my undergraduate degree at Purdue University and have a vast training background with experience in the strategies that elite athletes trust to improve their performance each season and lead long, successful careers both on and off the field.

Julie is the founder of FLEX Mind, Muscle, Might which provides performance care for athletes who need to stay at the top of their game. She is Mental Performance Mastery Certified Coach, an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, movement specialist, breath coach, mind-based stress reduction and meditation facilitator. 

Her background in strength and conditioning (CFSC) complements her strategic training programs and creates the balance that every athlete requires to operate at their peak. She is a lifestyle communication partner for the athlete, their organizations and corporate teams.

By evaluating movement patterns and assessing emotional intelligence with conscious coaching, Julie supports those who are ready to up-level their game and become knowledgeable in how to down-regulate for deeper recovery and assesses the physical and mental tug-of-war demands an athlete faces on a daily basis.

In order to instill a winning mentality in sports, Julie focuses on empowering athletes with strategies in positive, self-talk, visualization, goal setting, focus on the process, meditation and mindfulness, pre and post performance routines for developing mental muscle along with recognizing body tension and using self-care treat and train performance tools to align their bodies and mind to withstand the intensity of competition.

Julie is a firm believer that the more athletes participate in self-care, the greater their chance of improvement in movement fluency with fewer body aches and pains. Projecting excellence shouldn’t just be a commitment on their playing field, but a value that transcends into their lives beyond the game with their families, coaches, teammates and personal relationships. 

Traditionally, Strength, Speed, and Skill are the cornerstone into athletic training, but athletes are increasingly recognizing the importance of mental performance because it can provide them with a competitive edge and help them achieve peak performance. This forward thinking in a heavily dense digital world is the focus of FLEX. Pairing the mental side of training with the mobility methodology like yoga and functional movement principles and the recovery strategies that non sleep deep rest provides along with recognizing myofascial tension to address both mind and muscle uniquely primes the athlete’s nervous system to face any challenge. 

Julie’s mission is to educate how this tri-flex concept: FLEX Your Mind, FLEX Your Muscle and FLEX Your Might to enhance better player awareness for in the moment quick decision making, creating confidence athletes, limiting soft tissue injuries, and positions the athlete for longevity to achieve their highest potential in sports and life.
